Flower Arrangements – September 2022
There’s a lovely simplicity in being inspired by your surroundings — no matter the season.
Spring, summer, autumn and winter, there will always be flowers arranged in our house. The garden has been designed to provide all year round flowers with perhaps July being the month the odd flower is purchased to boost the pickings and arrangements.
After a long working week, my creative juices are bursting, so I am creating food, flowers or paintings alongside completing the sometimes mundane house and garden tasks. There is something special about growing, picking and then creating from the surroundings I have spent days labouring in the seasons prior.
Even if I have limited time, I still gather flowers or foliage to fill a vase, sometimes with no arranging required. Often the simplest makes a beautiful statement. Greenery alone or an arrangement from a single flower variety can look as elegant as an arrangement that I may spend more time and effort arranging. With regular stem cutting and water refreshing every few days, these generally last until the following weekend.
